Feathered, furry and not – they educate thousands of community members, of all ages, about the value of nature right here at home. From insects to avian species, caring for our Animal Ambassadors costs about $70,000 annually.

These apex predators play an important part in the ecosystem by keeping small-mammal populations in check. Also, they create habitat for smaller birds, like house sparrows, who often share use of Red Tailed hawk nests!

Virginia Opossums are the only wild marsupial found in North America. They will eat just about anything, including rodents, ticks, and venomous snakes, so they are great to have around!

The Corn Snake likely gets its name from the corn-kernel pattern on its belly, or because farmers tend to find them in corn storage areas, eating mice! They’re great at pest control!

Great Horned Owls are common yet secretive apex predators in the Lehigh River watershed, and are truly one of Eastern Pennsylvania’s most impressive native bird species! They are known to prey upon species as large as skunks and herons, and their deep 5-8 part hoots can be heard from far distances!
