Bike and Boat Group Programs

Wildlands Conservancy’s Bike & Boat Program offers several options for groups that are looking for an outdoor adventure on or near the Lehigh River. Whether you are a school, scout, or church group, a business or organization looking for a teambuilding activity, or just a group of friends or family looking for a unique experience, let our professional team of guides and naturalists host your outing. Our trips are a huge success and are a fantastic way to actively experience the river and spend some quality time in a beautiful piece of “Metro-Wilderness” right here in the Lehigh Valley. All trips are beginner friendly, and all groups are welcome!

Canoeing on the Lehigh River

Canoe/Bike TripsOur experts take participants on guided canoe trips ranging from 4 to 15 miles in length. The river is mostly flat, slow moving water with sections of gentle riffles that offer the excitement of river paddling. Our most common trip begins at Canal Park in Allentown, and continues to Freemansburg or Hugh Moore Park in Easton. Canoes, paddles, and PFD’s are provided. Certified safety instructors and naturalists accompany every group. Minimum group size is 10, maximum is 60. Cost is dependent on trip logistics, generally $35-40/pp.

Biking on the Lehigh Canal Towpath

Participants have the opportunity complete a 4-23 mile bicycle trip through some of the most dramatic and beautiful scenery along the Lehigh River. The Lehigh Canal Towpath (the D&L Trail) is a flat, wide trail that parallels most of the river from the Pocono town of White Haven, PA to the river’s confluence with the Delaware River in Easton, PA. Nearly all sections of the trail are available to explore; Contact us to see which areas will best fit the needs of your group. Bicycles, helmets, guides, and shuttles are provided. Minimum group size is 10, maximum is 60. Cost is dependent on trip logistics, generally $20-25/pp.

Bike & Boat Trips – Our Most popular Trip!

Combine bicycling and canoeing for an unbelievable experience that starts and ends at the same location. Paddle the river, then switch to bikes and peddle back along the D & L Trail. Bike & Boat trips can be completed between Allentown & Bethlehem, through the Lehigh Gap, and through Hugh Moore Park in Easton. Canoes, paddles, PFD’s, bicycles, and helmets are provided. Certified safety instructors and naturalists accompany every group. Minimum group size is 10, maximum is 60. Cost is dependent on trip logistics, generally $30-35/pp.

 River Island Camping

Canoe/Bike TripsRiver Island Camping is our Bike & Boat excursion that includes an overnight stay on a remote river island. We begin at Canal Park in Allentown with a 9-mile paddle to Freemansburg Island where we’ll camp for the night. In the morning we’ll continue our paddle before switching to bikes and peddling back to Canal Park. We provide canoes, paddles, PFD’s, bikes, helmets, tents, as well as a fire cooked dinner and breakfast. Certified safety instructors and naturalists accompany every group. Trips are approximately 24 hours, usually noon to noon. Minimum group size is 10, maximum is 40. Cost is $80/pp.

All trips can be booked anytime from May to October; weekends fill up fast! If you have a group of less than 10, check out our pre-scheduled Public Bike & Boat Trips that are open to anyone. The minimum age of participants is 10; however special arrangements can sometimes be made for younger children accompanied by adults.
