Message from the Director:
Wildlands Conservancy’s Rivers Program utilizes a comprehensive watershed approach to protecting our water resources. A program based in science, Wildlands Conservancy’s Rivers Program also understands the value of education in the process of improving the health of our waterways. We frequently speak with municipalities, watershed groups, private landowners, and industries in the hopes of achieving better stewardship of our watersheds. In addition to community education, Wildlands Conservancy’s Rivers Program conducts comprehensive watershed planning. Our planning efforts work to identify the cultural, natural, historical, recreational, and biological resources of a watershed and look holistically at developing recommendations to protect our watersheds. Our watershed planning efforts lead to completing hands-on stream restoration projects. Many of these projects are designed to reduce the impacts of non-point source pollution, one of the largest current and future threats to our waterways. All of these activities could not be completed without utilizing broad-based partnerships of individuals, corporations, civic organizations, state agencies, and local, state and federal officials.
Water resources are the foundation of our communities and provide many benefits. Through our education, planning and stream restoration activities along with your efforts we can make a difference! I look forward to working with you and your organization to effectively preserve, protect, and enhance the water resources of the Lehigh River and its watershed. |
