River Conditions to Next Access Point: 

There are rock ledges, old bridge pilings, boulders, and waves in this section before the next landing area. 

Linkages:

  • Wildlife Information Center: The headquarters and interpretative center of this organization is located just above the Route 873 bridge on RIVER RIGHT.
  • Appalachian Trail:  The Appalachian Trail dips down from the Blue Mountain to cross the river on the Route 873 bridge.
Access Point Orientation and Description:
Access is on RIVER RIGHT just upstream from the Route 873 bridge.

Locating the Access Point from the River:
This access point is located on RIVER RIGHT within the Lehigh Gap (Blue Mountain) just upstream from the Route 873 bridge. 

Directions to Access Parking/Unloading Area by Land:
From Route 22, turn onto Route 145 North and go 14.6 miles to Route 248.  Turn left onto Route 248 West and go 0.2 mile to the traffic light at Route 873.  Turn left onto Route 873 South, crossing the bridge (and the Lehigh River).  Make a sharp left about 0.3 mile below the bridge onto Paint Mill Road, a narrow macadam road that goes toward the river near the Szokes Bros. sign.  Go 0.1 mile on Paint Mill Road to a dirt road.   Turn left onto the dirt road and go to the Wildlife Information Center parking lot.

Access Point Location:
This access point is a narrow stone beach upstream from the Route 873 bridge below the Wildlife Information Center parking lot.

  • No restroom facilities
  • Wildlife Information Center headquarters and interpretive center
