Access Point Orientation and Description:
Access is on RIVER RIGHT. The
riverbank is wooded. During periods of low water, the bank
is a solid rock beach. At higher water, the access is a
steeply sloped dirt path.
Locating the Access Point from the River:
Look for a narrow trail on RIVER
RIGHT just downstream from obvious overhead high-voltage power
lines.
Directions to Access Parking/Unloading Area by Land:
From
Route 22, turn onto Route 145 North and go 6.3 miles to a small
pull-off, which is the access area, on the right just past the
intersection of Route 145 and Clear View Road . (As a reference,
you will pass a traffic light at Route 329 which is 1.8 miles
before the access area.)
Access Point Location:
At the edge of the pull-off, look for
a narrow path leading into the woods. Follow the path up
a short slope onto the abandoned railway bed. Continue across
the railway bed down the slope to the river. It's about
50 yards from the parking area to the river.
User Facilities:
This
roadside pull-off seems to have been created by frequent use of
trucks and other vehicles. It is small and only holds a small
number of vehicles. The path to the river and along the abandoned
railway bed has been worn clear by use. Lehigh County is the
owner of the abandoned rail bed.
