Freemansburg Photos

Located in the borough of Freemansburg at the Lock #44 of the historic Lehigh Navigation, this access point has interesting historic attractions including a re-built mule barn from the canal era.  An abandoned locktender's house, as well as the stone remnants of a grist mill that pre-dates the canal era can be viewed. A real canal town, Freemansburg and its canal was used to represent the Erie Canal in the filming of the movie "A Farmer Takes a Wife," which was based on a novel by Walter D. Edmonds, called "Rome Haul."  NEXT ACCESS POINT: 1.3 miles (Wilson Avenue)
