Wildlands Conservancy’s Rivers Program has been and continues to be involved in a number of different projects addressing a variety of environmental issues in the Lehigh River watershed. In order to fund these various projects, Wildlands Conservancy has had to utilize funding from many federal, state, local and private funding opportunities.

Wildlands Conservancy’s Rivers Program has primarily utilized three state funding programs administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and Department of Conservation and Natural Resources:

  • Rivers Conservation Program,
  • Growing Greener Initiative
  • Section 319 Non-Point Source Management Program

These programs have been utilized to conduct watershed assessments, create watershed management plans, implement stream restoration projects, plant riparian buffers, remove dams, and create wetlands to treat abandoned mine drainage. With support from the governor and state legislature, these programs will continue to fund environmental planning, remediation, and improvements in years to come in the Lehigh River watershed and throughout Pennsylvania.
